Program structure

The program in a minute

  • Are you prepared to continuously reinvent the self?
  • Do you want to learn how to thrive in a chaotic system through dynamic adaptation?
  • Are you ready for the potential of collective consciousness?
  • What would happen if we were able to channel competition towards collaboration?
  • Can you imagine the richness of coping with multiple universes?
  • And discover how all this applies in the realization of a one year innovation project, in multidisciplinary teams and exploring remote collaboration

But there is more. You live this experience with a diverse group of colleagues, graduate students, executives, startups since you can choose what interests you. You can opt in any separate activity, or choose to do the full masters. You can join with a little team working on your own projects, or you can join as an individual and become part of a project that we suggest. You choose your own learning path, based on what you need at that moment. You invest heavily in yourself.

The detailed program structure

The program has an elapsed time of 9 months, during which the participants work continuously on two projects (a personal transformation project and the realization of an agile innovation project in a team). This experience is enriched by four face-to-face, one week blocks, spead over the 9 months.

While the program has a systemic built-up in line with the philosophy and pedagogy of the program, for practical reasons, each week deals with one dimension of our systemic model. In order to obtain the masters degree, all activities have to be taken. But each specific acitivity can be undertaken as a stand-alone (possibly for credits):

The project journey

is key to organizational transformation.
In teams of 4 or 5 people you will be working, remotely, on a joint project during a nine month period. This learning by doing trajectory will be supported by a learning by doing platform, containing learning modules on demand, as well as an original innovation approach. The latter is a combination of design thinking and systems thinking. Different steps and different assignments are due, but above all, the process is just there to allow you to work on your transformation. The prototype at the end of the nine month project is a value added, but the transformation, the journey itself, is the purpose. You will be monitored on the platform and on-line guidance is available. Collaborative tools are part of the platform.

The personal transformation journey

is often an underestimated yet necessary part of organisational transformation. But no transformation will take place, if we would not be able and willing to reflect on our own behavior. Starting from the 1 day session with the Insights Discovery leaderships profiles, the platform supports you in your personal engagement, again with our own innovative approach, also based on systems thinking and design thinking.  Assignments and learning on demand modules are available, and 4 times a year a remote coaching session is planned. In this personal transformation journey, you will be able to bring together all the pieces of the puzzle for yourself, and define for yourself a new way of working, leading and being in your company.

The context

which we live in today is one of complexity, networks and emergence. On top of that it is disrupted by exponential technologies, environmental, societal and geopolitical challenges. For successful transformation of mindsets, comprehension of the context is key. A one week module around complexity, collective intelligence, swarm creativity and exponential technologies if offered (with a team of the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence and the University of Salento).

This module is planned from October 1 to 5, 2018, in Lyon

Personal transformation

is key to organizational transformation.  Attention is given to the recent developments in consciousness studies and first person posture, in parallel with personal transformation work, based on the Insights Discovery tool.  During the personal transformation week, the contours of each participant’s development plan will be sketched.  In the off-campus periods, the platform will further support the realization of that plan. Some coaching sessions are planned. This session is animated by faculty of the National Institute for Advanced Studies in Bangalore, India, and consultants of Insights Discovery.

This module is planned from November 26 to 30, 2018, In Paris

Innovation approaches

The volatility of the current reality needs adapted innovation approaches. Agile design thinking proves to be a valuable approach. Enriched with systems thinking tools it can be successfully used for project realization, including the project of one’s own personal transformation. This module is organized by faculty of the Design School of the HPI in Potsdam.

This module is planned from February 4 to 8, 2019, in Paris

Purpose, meaning and value added

are on the one hand the driver for all transformation, and on the other hand it informs that same transformation. Companies and organizations can no longer deny their responsibility in the creation of a fair, inclusive and sustainable world. This module is organized by faculty of the Allan Gray Centre for Values Based Leadership of the Graduate School of Business (University of Cape Town).

This module is planned from April 8 to 12, 2019, in Lyon

The MBI virtual learning-by-doing platform

Participants will leverage a powerful toolkit of learning by doing through a hyper-practical online learning environment, that are then complimented by physical workshops hosted at the EMLyon campus. The platform is organized around two trajectories, both based on a combination of design thinking and systems thinking.  They both go through a number of steps, with requested assignments, in order to support the journey a bit. The learning path that each individual choses, however, is free. Each step in both journeys is supported by learning on demand modules. If you are asked, for instance, to realise an empathy map, then there are learning modules on demand (your decision to use them) on different levels about what an empathy map is and how to make one.  Tools are provided in each step to realise the assignments.

The platform contains an experimental semantic tool, that allows the participants at each moment, on any subject, to request a short learning module. The platform will construct such mini learning module, based on public curated and tagged content.  The tool is in an experimental phase, but already in this phase can offer great value added to the transformation journey.
